      • I call my version the “Mack Truck Manual.” (Same concept) Been doing it for many years at every day job and for every client. It’s one of the first things I begin compiling when I start a new gig. And it’s not just for clients. The Manual has saved me a time or two, especially when something comes up that I haven’t had to deal with in a long time — it documents how to do *everything* so I can use it as a personal memory refresher, too.

  1. Great article! “This is what you can expect” is key. When I first started, I didn’t clearly outline who is responsible for what and when. This resulted in misunderstandings, surprises and more stress for everyone.

  2. Hi Carrie, it is 2017 and your post is as relevant today as when you first wrote it. Your advice is on target. Thank you and keep up the good work. Warm regards, Jo-Ann.
